Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
Director Ryan Coogler said that two of his biggest influences for the film were From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and The Faculty (1998) both directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Filmed primarily in New Orleans and the surrounding areas of Louisiana during the spring of 2024, meaning high heat most of the time. Wunmi Mosaku says they learned fast to follow Michael B. Jordan’s lead and not complain – but maybe still vent. “What I learned from Michael was he doesn’t complain. He would just kind of be very still in his very thick suits -very thick, very hot. He would be like, ‘There’s nothing we can do to change it, so let’s just kind of push through,’ because the complaining brings you down a little bit.” Mosaku clarifies, though: “Except for the bugs. The bugs were hard to not complain about.”
