Superman

November 8 / 7:30 pm

Starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan & Nicholas Hoult

Relive the thrills of Director James Gunn’s fun-filled reboot of the DC Universe, and featuring the scene-stealing Krypto, the super dog on The Strand’s enormous 30′ screen and 39 speaker surround-sound!

Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.

Upon the release of the film, David Corenswet revealed that his predecessor, Henry Cavill, wrote him a letter of support and encouragement. Corenswet said he’d keep the details to himself, as it was a meaningful and personal gesture between him and Cavill.

Krypto’s presence in the film was first revealed in October 2024 by director James Gunn via social media to commemorate Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. For his first live-action appearance in film, Krypto was based on Gunn’s own rescue dog, Ozu, whose likeness and very mischievous behavior were used as inspiration and the basis for the 3D model of Krypto. Ozu was 3D scanned and then digitally altered to resemble Krypto. Krypto is traditionally depicted as a white Labrador or Shepherd in the comics, while Ozu is of a scruffy, smaller dog breed. The only physical characteristic that remained in the film was Krypto’s white fur.
