October 6 / 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Author of the NY Times #1 Best Seller ‘Butler’
Salena Zito is a journalist and best-selling author of Butler, the gripping story of the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump that took place in our own backyard. The book debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best-Seller List. As a journalist that was invited to attend the rally, Salena was standing only a few feet away from the stage when the gunshots rang out. Butler is her first-hand account of the assassination attempt – and the inside story of Trump’s heartland-fueled victory.
Salena will be at The Strand on Monday, October 6 for a talk-back and Q & A session. In partnership with the LITTLE GREEN BOOK STORE on Main Street, audience members will receive an autographed copy of Salena’s book as part of the admission price. Salena will talk with a moderator about her book and her experience on that fateful day as well as answer questions.
Audience members will also have a chance to meet Salena and get a photo at the end of the program. She will NOT be personalizing any of the autographed books, but can only take the time to say ‘hello’ and get a photo. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
There are moments that define America. The late afternoon hours of July 13, 2024 was one of them. Butler is a narrative of that fateful day, and the people of the heartland. Throughout it all, Salena never stopped reporting. She spoke by phone to Trump several times in the immediate aftermath and was granted access to community members, rally participants, family members and local law enforcement officials.
Salena Zito is a veteran political reporter with more than 20 years of award-winning experience in print and broadcast journalism. With her trusty Jeep that shows 400,000 miles on the odometer and a refusal to travel on interstates, Zito is a reporter that harkens to an older generation of journalism, one that listens to the stories of everyday Americans in places far outside the artificial bubbles of Manhattan and the Beltway.
Experience this unique opportunity to hear directly from Salena about what took place that day, the aftermath, and the inspiration that prompted her to write Butler, which debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list when it was first released on July 8, 2025.
