In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario's attempt to save his struggling arts center with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists' find that their lives will never be the same.

Even though SING has been available on home video for quite some time, you really will enjoy it at The Strand because of its 45 speaker surround sound!  The film features over 85 hit songs from the 1940s to 2016, and the theater's unsurpassed audio system really makes this delightful music come alive!

Director Garth Jennings is an admirer of jazz vocalist Shooby Taylor and chose to have his song "Stout-Hearted Men" included in the film. The song was sung by a hippo during the audition scene. Taylor suffered a stroke in 1994 and died destitute in 2003. Jennings revealed that Taylor's son was in his 70s and "just above the poverty line", and hoped the check for the rights to the song from Universal would be beneficial to him.

Mike the mouse is largely based on Frank Sinatra, whom Seth MacFarlane often imitates. Sinatra was known for his short temper, style of dress, and apparent ties to organized crime, which are incorporated into Mike's character. He sings Sinatra's signature song "My Way" on the movie's soundtrack.
