The Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers of the non-profit Strand Theater Initiative are excited to announce the launch of their all-new youth show choir, The StrandTastics! Part of The Strand's mission as a charity is fostering educational opportunities using the arts as a catalyst.

The StrandTastics mission is to present itself as a premier performing ensemble focused on educating students on the performing arts of singing, acting, and dance. Through a focus on these three arts in ensemble and individual settings, the group seeks to help develop students into seasoned young performers.

The group will be open to students entering into or currently in grades 8 - 12. Students currently in 7th grade that will be entering 8th grade in the Fall ARE eligible. Current high school seniors ARE eligible.  The group is open to any interested student throughout the north Pittburgh region, including Seneca Valley, Pine Richland, North Allegheny, Mars, Butler as well as nearby school districts in Beaver County. Private & cyber schools and home schooled students are also eligible.

Auditions are coming soon!

The StrandTastics will be under the direction of MR. NATHANIEL COPELAND. Mr. Copeland has outstanding credentials and is excited to spearhead the program. Mr. Copeland has spent the last few years in school districts throughout the North Hills. Most recently he served as a long-term substitute choir director at Seneca Valley's Ryan Gloyer Middle School. While at SV, he also served as the musical director for Ryan Gloyer Middle School's production of Disney's Aladdin Jr. and the Intermediate High School's production of CLUE.

Previously, he worked as a substitute teacher in the North Allegheny and Pine-Richland School Districts, and also student taught at Pine-Richland Middle School and High School in their choral department. Mr. Copeland has had the opportunity to work with and get to know students in each of these districts' music programs, and the vast amount of talent and dedication that they contain. Other musical involvement includes formerly being a section leader for the Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, performances on stage with Stage 62, and singing with Voces Solis.
