The Muppets
Saturday ONLY, October 9
Starring Amy Adams, Jason Segel & Chris Cooper

The Muppets (2011) is more-or-less a reunion film that reinvigorated the franchise. A Muppet fanatic, with some help from his 2 human compatriots, must regroup the Muppet gang to stop an avaricious oil mogul from taking down one of their precious life-longing treasures.

When 3 Muppet fans learn that Tex Richman wants to drill under the Muppet Theater for oil, they set out to find the Muppets who have been split up for years so that they can put on one last show and save the theater. Kermit the Frog now lives in his own mansion in Hollywood, but is depressed, 'The Great Gonzo' is a high class plumber at Gonzo's Royal Flush, Fozzie Bear performs with a tribute band called The Moopets, Miss Piggy is the plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, and Animal is at a celebrity anger management rehab center in Santa Barbara.

Not only was it a reunion film, it was the first time any Muppets film won an Oscar. Bret McKenzie won Best Original Song for "Man or Muppet".

Due to limited space for the puppeteers, in the scene where the car is full of Muppets after picking them all up, Amy Adams and Jason Segel were asked to operate the Muppets on either side of them.

After finishing the movie, the filmmakers gave Jason Segel the Muppet version of himself to keep.

Jason Segel said that during filming, he observed the choreographer, Michael Rooney, giving instructions to the classic movie star Mickey Rooney (who had a cameo) and calling him "Dad." Segel went up to Michael and reprimanded him, saying "you can't just call any old man 'Dad,'" and Michael told Segel, "no, he's my actual Dad."
