Guitar Duo Showcases the Music of One of the Great American Storytellers

Audiences will be cheering for John Reno - and Pittsburgh area guitarist Scott Elliott - as they perform the music of Jim Croce, one of America's most enduring singer-songwriters. The duo blends acoustic guitars and vocals to capture the essence of a man whose musical gifts transcend time.

When John's current guitarist-partner fell ill and was unable to play the show, The Strand approached John about SCOTT ELLIOTT, a Pittsburgh area professional guitarist with over 40 years of experience, to fill in.  After a brief dialogue, John knew that he had a tremendous partner in Scott, and the show was saved!  We are grateful to Scott - who has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Opera Theatre, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra and many others - as well as John for his flexibility to keep the show alive.

This show features the greatest hits of Croce's tragically short career, from the rollicking Bad, Bad Leroy Brown and You Don't Mess Around With Jim to his more heartfelt ballads, I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song and Operator.

John & Scott will recreate the masterful guitar work of Croce and his accompanist, Maury Muehleisen, with songs like Time In A Bottle and These Dreams. As they cover the Croce catalogue, John will offer anecdotes about the late performer and the characters who inspired his songs.

Coupled with a fascinating multi-media presentation, this timeless concert takes the audience on a magical journey back to a beloved chapter in music history!
