THIS CHARITY EVENT FOR MAKE A WISH IS...WELL....BIG!

BIGFOOT DOUBLE FEATURE

BIGFOOT: THE MOVIE with A WISH FOR GIANTS

GET YOUR BIG FOOT IN THE DOOR WITH TWO FILMS THAT TAKE A DECIDEDLY DIFFERENT APPROACH TO TACKLING
THE LEGEND OF THE MISSING LINK

The Strand is delighted to support the MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION OF GREATER PENNSYLVANIA AND WEST VIRGINIA with an evening of comedy and drama surrounding the legend of Bigfoot!

Even as we welcome the arrival of warmer weather, sooner than we'd care to admit, Fall's blustery winds and early evenings will be upon us.  Along with that, however, comes one of our favorite holidays: Halloween!  What better way to kick of our Northern Nightmares Festival than exploring one of the most prolific mysteries throughout the region and the country: Bigfoot!

The Strand proudly presents a Bigfoot double-feature from local production teams that take two distinctly different directions when it comes to pursuing this hair-raising legend!

a scene in A Wish for Giants

A WISH FOR GIANTS:  From Writer Aaron Dunbar and Director Don Swanson, A Wish For Giants is based on the novel of the same name by Dunbar.  It tells the story of Sophie, who meets a kindred spirit in Roxie, a young girl with an inoperable brain tumor and the impossible wish to meet Bigfoot. As if that task isn't hard enough, Sophie must contend with meddling from Derrick, a fame-hungry classmate born into privilege from Sophie's graduate classes. As time grows short, Sophie must align herself with Derrick in order to see Roxie's wish granted, even if not in the way she may have hoped. Unknown to everyone is the possibility that there may be magic in the wish of a dying girl, and a truth beyond belief.

Rednecks, guns and beer are the order of the day as the hunt for Bigfoot rages in Ellwood City in Bigfoot: The Movie

BIGFOOT: THE MOVIE: From Director Jared Show and Writers Jared Show and Curt Wooton, Bigfoot: The Movie is not a documentary or like Harry and the Hendersons. If you enjoy movies like Tremors, Shawn of the Dead, and Tucker and Dale VS Evil then your gonna love this! Bigfoot has come to the town of Ellwood City, PA and is causing BIG problems. Now it's up to four locals, Chuck ('Pittsburgh Dad' Curt Wootton), Dale (Nathan Magill), Burl (Jared Show) and Kate (Joanie Dodds, America's Next Top Model) to take him down.  This movie is unrated, but the content would categorize it as PG-13 for language, rude humor and mild sexual situations.

Laugh it up with Bigfoot: The Movie, then break out the tissues for A Wish for GiantsA Wish For Giants Writer, Aaron Dunbar, will be on hand, and available to sign copies of his book by the same name which will be available for purchase.  We're working on lining up stars and production members from both films to attend, and will make announcements as they become available

Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Make A Wish of Greater Pennsylvania & West Virginia. The Strand is very excited to begin what we hope will be a long partnership with Make A Wish, an extraordinary charity that works tirelessly to grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses.
