Monty Python’s Spamalot
June 23 – July 2
Back By Absolutely No Demand Whatsoever, We Just Have Very Poor Judgment! It’s Back for Not One, Two, Three, but SEVEN Performances |
We just weren’t done having fun with it, yet! We all need to laugh more, right? Well, Spamalot, the comedic musical “lovingly ripped off” from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) delivers those laughs with a side of gut wrenching hysteria!
We have reunited the principal cast from the original production for this especially silly revival. Not only was Spamalot one of the most popular full-length musicals that we’ve ever produced, the audiences and cast had so much fun, the first question that was asked was, ‘When are you bringing it back?’
Your wish is our command! King Arthur, the Lady of the Lake, Lancelot, Galahad, and Robin, the not-quite-so-brave-as-Sir Lancelot, and even the lovable Patsy return to The Strand stage for 7 performances, June 23 – July 2!
Like the film, Spamalot is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but differs from the film in many ways, especially in its skewering of Broadway theatre. The original Broadway production won three Tony awards including Best Musical.
From the distinctive clacking of two coconuts to the needling titles of songs like What Happened to My Part? and This is the Song That Goes Like This to the horrendous miscounting before the lobbing of ‘The Holy Grenade’, Spamalot will have you forgetting about the problems of the world since you’ll be too busy tending to abdominal cramps from so much gut-wrenching laughter! Many an audience member could be heard laughing, “I’ve never even watched Monty Python before, but this show is hilarious!” If you somehow missed The Strand’s production of Spamalot in the fall, this is your chance to fix that horrible lapse in judgment! If you did see it before, come on back and bring some family, friends or colleagues with you (assuming you never wish to see them again)!
