Friday The 13th | Freddy v Jason Wkd
September 30 / 7:30 pm & 9:30 pm
It’s a ‘Freddy vs Jason’ Weekend Continuing with the Original ‘Friday the 13th’
Experience the original horror film that made a household name out of Jason Vorhees (even though he appears very little in this film, ‘spoiler alert’!) back on the Big Screen in 39 speaker surround-sound, true digital HD and 39 speaker surround-sound!
A group of camp counselors trying to reopen a summer camp called Crystal Lake, which has a grim past, are stalked by a mysterious killer.
The movie was filmed at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in New Jersey. The camp is still in operation, and it has a wall of Friday the 13th memorabilia to honor that the movie was set there. While most of the cast and crew stayed at local hotels during filming, some of the most dedicated, including Tom Savini and Taso N. Stavrakis, stayed at the actual camp site. Savini was one of the first crew members on board for the film because the producers idolized his special make-up effects in Dawn of the Dead (1978).
Because the camp was closed during filming, and situated in the deep New Jersey woods, the cast and crew didn’t see much outside interference, but it turned out they had a very famous neighbor: rock star Lou Reed, who owned a farm nearby. “We got to watch Lou Reed play for free, right in front of us, while we were making the film,” Soundman Richard Murphy said. “He came by the set, and we hung around with each other, and he was just a really great guy.”
Composer Harry Manfredini came up with the now classic “ki ki ki ma ma ma” vocals attached to the score. It’s his voice as well.
